Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu has praised the functioning of Vinobha Bhave University (VBU) and making all round progress despite facing a shortage of teachers.
Inaugurating the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the varsity in Hazaribag Friday, Murmu, who is also the Chancellor of Universities in Jharkhand, said VBU is the only university in the state offering choice-based education system (CBES) and quality education to its students.
The Governor said that VBU should be looked at as a role model for universities and colleges not only in Jharkhand but in Eastern India as well.
Praising the university for providing quality education with limited staff, she said the teachers are dedicated and committed and this was the reason why this institution achieved so many laurels which other universities could not.
She said VBU has proper infrastructure for quality education and has a modern and well developed Central Library and modern laboratory.
The governor said that as the Chancellor of universities in the state, she is taking special care for improvement of quality education in Jharkhand by reviewing their working at regular intervals.
The silver jubilee celebrations started with a two-day cultural programme in which several universities from the country including Vanasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan and Mysore University, Mysore have taken part.
In other news, the Haryana Education Department has prepared a framework for introducing activity-based learning in government schools. The Department has also decided that Saturdays in government schools will be reserved for extra-curricular activities for the students only where their skills can be developed.
