Notices issued to school head, 16 teachers during surprise checks in four days

THE UT Education Department has issued show-cause notices to one school head and 16 teachers in surprise checks conducted over four days. The officials had started conducting checks on September 15, a day after Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher raised the issue of complaints being received by her about teachers not being regularly present in government school at Dhanas.

Director School Education Rupinderjit Brar swung into action and formed a team of senior officers for surprise inspections at various schools. DSE himself visited three schools on the periphery of Dhanas.

The inspections started from September 15 and were conducted daily. A detailed list of 15 parameters was circulated to all the inspecting teams to report, on the basis of which a report was made.

At GPS, Mauli Complex, few teachers arrived late while at GHS-Karsan, a total of eight teachers had not marked their attendance. At GHS, Mauli Colony, two teachers were late. One sweeper was found absent at GMSSS-26.

What Else Is Making News?

During the inspection, it came to light that resource teachers were not regularly visiting the schools. At GMS, Raipur Kalan, the head of school was late; two teachers and one clerk were reported late too. Few teachers were also found carrying mobile phones in classroom. At Government Senior Secondary School, Mauli Jagran, one JBT teacher was late by 10 minutes.


The inspection of schools will continue on Tuesday as well. Show-cause notices will be issued to the defaulters on the spot by the inspecting officer and the reply of the delinquent officer or official will be submitted to the inspecting officer within two days. The final report will be sent to the DSE office within four days of inspection for further action.
